The five stations of Line 2's first stage are close to starting test operations involving the public.
This first phase comprises five stations in Santa Anita district.
"This section is expected to be put into operation soon because five kilometers are already ready (…)," said Minister Silva.
During this first stage, five trains will go into operation —each with 6 cars and the capacity to transport up to 200 people. Thus, this modern means of transportation will carry 1,200 passengers, when conditions allow it to operate at 100% of its capacity.
The Central Operations Post of Line 2 is the system's brain and is now ready to operate.
From this area, a series of automated procedures will be activated, such as regulating the progress of trains, managing alarms in case of emergency and monitoring routes, among others.
Said central will be assisted by control subsystems which provide automatic functions for the management and safety of trains, communications, assistance, and information, in addition to passenger surveillance.
This centralized system will allow operators to react quickly to any eventuality or emergency. It also fulfills the function of informing operators about events relevant to the maintenance section.
According to the Presidential Office, this modern inclusive transportation means, expected to connect 10 districts, will carry more than one million people, as well as generate jobs and entrepreneurship in the future.
