The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday conveyed greetings to the country's journalists —as Peru commemorates the day of women and men dedicated to journalism— and ratified the Government's commitment to press freedom.

"From here, we reaffirm the commitment as a Government, and we hope that local and regional governments will also do so, to place greater importance on freedom of communication and freedom of the press," he said.

Likewise, the Head of State expressed his appreciation to journalists, underlining that they do a very demanding job and recalled that he had visited Peru's most remote areas joined by many of them.

"From our part, you will never suffer any aggressions. You have all freedom to express yourselves. If we need to engage in coordination, let's do it within the framework of dialogue," he emphasized.

Remarks were made during his work trip to Moquegua region, where he attended the 2nd Macro-regional Congress of Bicentennial Mayors and supervised works at Ilo Port Terminal.
