Peru President: "Entrepreneurs are the country's development engine"

10:57 | Lima, Apr. 12.

The business community is the development driver of a country, President Martin Vizcarra affirmed Thursday at the opening of the III CEO Summit of the Americas.

"I'm convinced that micro, small, medium, and large-sized entrepreneurs are the economic development engines in favor of our nations," the statesman expressed.

According to the Head of State, this business meeting will serve to open a productive dialogue between public and private sectors.

Likewise, the gathering will address the challenges and opportunities facing the Americas to achieve inclusive and quality growth.

President Vizcarra also pointed out the urgency of creating opportunities and conditions for new businesses —particularly SMEs— which includes a large number of women and young entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, the Peruvian leader deemed necessary to decisively tackle corruption by promoting a culture of integrity in the region.

"This responsibility to fight against corruption has been present since the first summit held in Miami back in 1994, and countries have entered into international commitments such as the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the Inter-American Convention against Corruption," he noted.
