The Presidency of the Republic on Friday denied the veracity of the news story that reports alleged visits by Head of State Dina Boluarte to currently-imprisoned and former President Alberto Fujimori.

"This information is false," the Executive Branch expressed via its official Twitter account.

The report published by La Republica newspaper cites statements by ex-President Pedro Castillo's lawyer, Eduardo Pachas, disseminated via two audiovisual interview spaces.

The lawyer said his client saw the current President of the Republic visit Alberto Fujimori three times.

During the alleged visits —Pachas said— ex-presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori and current Congresswoman Martha Moyano would have also participated.

Castillo insists on version

The lawyer affirmed that Pedro Castillo is willing to give an account of these versions before Congress' Oversight Commission. Nonetheless, said group does not allow so because it does not question him in person.

For its part, the Presidency of the Republic deemed as "fake news" the alleged visits by President Dina Boluarte to Fujimori, who is being held at Lima’s Barbadillo Prison, in compliance with a sentence.
