The Presidency of the Republic sent greetings to all mothers in Peru on Mother's Day, which is celebrated on the second Sunday in May.

In a statement on its Twitter account, it noted that mothers' unconditional dedication constitutes a motivation to move forward and show solidarity.

"Let us take care of their health and well-being; let us continue to adhere to the biosafety measures for their peace of mind," it stated.

For her part, Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez extended her greetings to all mothers in Peru on her Twitter account.

"Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in Peru! Today, we have to take care of them by celebrating from a distance, but with the confidence and hope that we will give them a hug soon," she said.

However, people can leave their homes to buy staples, medicine, and to pick up takeout food from restaurants, on foot or by bicycle, since the use of private vehicles is restricted.

The use of private vehicles is prohibited today, except for those carrying elderly people to the vaccination sites.
