Peru PM visits Junin to oversee humanitarian aid to native communities

Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Monday traveled to Junin region to supervise the implementation of the Humanitarian Aid Operation in Poyeni and Betania, communities located in Rio Tambo district of Satipo province.

Joined by Ministers Walter Martos (Defense) and Fernando Castañeda (Justice and Human Rights), Zeballos arrived in the district of Mazamari, from where they will go to the above-mentioned native communities to oversee the development of civic engagement.

In a statement on its Twitter account, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers said that the operation facilitates the provision of medical care in various specialties, as well as the implementation of rapid diagnostic tests and triage for COVID-19 patients. 

As part of their visit, the delegation brought essential equipment and staple food supplies.

In addition, the high-ranking authorities met with Satipo Mayor Ivan Olivera, Mazamari Mayor Marcelino Camarena, and Satipo Sub-Prefect Maritza Olano to discuss the actions carried out in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM) in response to the pandemic.
