Peru PM presents confidence motion at Congress

10:01 | Lima, Sep. 19.

Peru's Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva addressed Congress on Wednesday to ask lawmakers to renew confidence in the Cabinet.

On Monday, Villanueva sent a letter to Congress Chairman Daniel Salaverry requesting authorization to attend Wednesday's plenary session along with his Ministerial Cabinet.

The aim was to request a confidence vote linked to four political-justice reforms proposed by the Executive Branch.

The Cabinet chief arrived at 9:00 AM joined by State ministers, who reached the Parliament headquarters on foot.

As is known, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Sunday night introduced a confidence motion to Congress and asked Parliament to approve the political-justice reform bills aimed at fighting corruption.
