Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva affirmed there is no political persecution in Peru while commenting on Fuerza Popular party leader
Keiko Fujimori's detention.
"We should let them do their job," the official expressed.
As is known, the opposition leader was taken into custody on Wednesday during a court hearing in front of Judge Richard Concepcion. The measure was taken as part of an investigation into money laundering in her 2011 presidential campaign.
Furthermore, Judicial Branch President Victor Prado indicated her arrest is not an act of revenge, as some of Fujimori supporters have suggested.
