Judiciary Chair Elvia Barrios on Monday affirmed that the
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo has expressed his willingness to provide the necessary resources to consolidate the reforms implemented by the judicial body.
"With our own resources, at 17 courts, we implement orality in civil litigation, by which proceedings can be completed in six months, and this requires the authorization of jurisdictional bodies and training, but we do not have enough resources," Barrios explained.
"Consequently, President Castillo has expressed his willingness to provide whatever is necessary to make this reform a reality," she added.
Held in the presence Justice and Human Rights Minister Anibal Torres, Deputy Justice Minister Gilmar Andia, as well as Supreme Judges Javier Arevalo and Hector Lama, the work meeting took place at the Hall of Agreements of the Supreme Court.
The participants discussed various issues, particularly the reforms that the justice system needs to speed up judicial proceedings.
"We have agreed on the need to create a commission to more adequately implement the immediate process so that they can be conducted at a police unit, in the presence of a judge, a prosecutor, and the police. We are working on it," Barrios indicated.
The meeting also addressed the need to implement nationwide the Panic Button App, which has been put into effect in 35 courts, so that the victim of violence can be protected not only in the area of residence.
