Renowned Hollywood actor Robert De Niro climbed Huayna Picchu Summit and visited the ancient city of Machu Picchu for the second time.

Joined by his son and a tour guide, the journey started at 5:30 AM on Tuesday.

De Niro came across with privileged travelers during the climb. Some of them stressed the fact that he has reached the peak at his age, although he looked somehow tired upon his return.

After that, the two-time Academy Award winner toured around the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu for the second time.

Some tourists approached him to say hello and even the Culture Ministry staff took pictures of him.

His visit was so much more pleasant this time. It must be noted the star had already visited the ancient ruins on Monday but in the rain.

In contrast, today's weather was good, and the bright sunny day showcased the beauty of the Inca citadel to its full extent.

He also spoke with journalists, with whom he shared his views on the beautiful place.

De Niro arrived in Cusco on Saturday afternoon. The 75-year-old celebrity landed on a private plane from Lima, where he was seen dining at the exclusive eatery Central in the Peruvian capital.

He also visited Pedro de Osma Museum located in the capital city's traditional Barranco district.

Career

De Niro is best known for his Oscar-winning roles in The Godfather II and Raging Bull, to name a few.

Other celebrated films include "Taxi Driver," "Once Upon a time in America," "The Untouchables," and "Casino."

He is well-known for his gangster roles and has played conflicting, turbulent characters as well.
