The Council of Ministers agreed to extend for 180 days the state of health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru,
The high-ranking official indicated that this measure was agreed because "it is necessary to anticipate and take action" in the event of a new contagion wave.
"From the Government we work highly committed to face the situation of the pandemic, which finds us a little worried, as does the third wave that is being announced," he said.

In this regard, the spokesperson indicated that Government's stance means being present in that zone to "make the corresponding assessment in order to take action."
They will assess in situ the situation existing in the VRAEM districts because those communities "have always been declared under state of emergency. However, the Government had never assessed their situation."
Bellido also mentioned that the Council of Ministers approved an emergency decree by which macro-fiscal rules for the public sector corresponding to the Fiscal Year 2022 are established.
Remarks were made during a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima.
