Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez launched an appeal for calm to the unions of truckers who have participated in today's strike.

In a post on Twitter, the minister condemned the acts of vandalism against civilians and the media.

"We understand and listen to the justified demands of truckers' unions, which are expressed as they exercise their free right to protest; however, we call for calm," Sanchez emphasized.

According to the Superintendence of Ground Transportation of People, Cargo, and Goods (Sutran), groups of protesters have blocked traffic on various highways in six regions across the country.

It should be pointed out that certain incidents were reported in some cases.

Likewise, the minister addressed the private sector, noting that the Government has already exempted the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) on fuels, as a measure to avoid an increase in prices of such resources and food.

"The application of said exemption is up to you now. Fuel prices have not yet come down," he remarked.
