Former President Alan Garcia's wake takes place at APRA political party headquarters in Lima's Breña district.
His relatives, fellow party members, supporters, and politicians attend the event.
According to APRA officer Omar Quezada, the wake will continue thru Friday.
Alan Garcia, who served twice as President of Peru, died on Wednesday in the nation's capital city at the age of 69
over a
self-inflicted shot to the head
.
The ex-Head of State shot himself in the morning after authorities arrived at his home with a 10-day preliminary detention order against him
linked to the Odebrecht corruption case investigation.
