21:00 | Lima, Feb. 21.

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) has reduced polling stations' capacity by 50% to avoid crowds, so that citizens can exercise their right to vote in a healthy environment during April 11 elections.

Thus, electors will find fewer voting tables at polling stations on Election Day

The electoral body urged voters not to forget to comply with preventive measures against COVID-19, such as the use of face masks, physical distancing, and hand washing.

The drop in the capacity at polling stations is part of the protocols that the ONPE will put in place on April 11.

In addition to this, the strategy of staggered voting has been proposed, in which electors would vote according to a staggered voting schedule with designated voting times, with vulnerable people voting first, and according to the last digit of the voters' ID as well.

Peru's general elections will take place on Sunday, April 11, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
