Peru: Gov't announces National Police general commander's end of duties

The Peruvian Government has terminated the appointment of Lieutenant General Javier Santos Gallardo Mendoza as General Commander of the National Police, and has retired him.

The measure was stipulated by supreme resolution No. 015-2022-IN, published on Monday in the official gazette El Peruano.

The document thanks Gallardo for the services rendered to the National Police and the nation.

The resolution was signed by the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo and Interior Minister Avelino Guillen.

Last night, Mr. Castillo announced that he has accepted the resignation of Interior Minister Avelino Guillen and terminated the appointment of Javier Santos Gallardo Mendoza as General Commander of the National Police.

In a post on Twitter, the Head of State thanked Guillen for the services rendered to the nation.
