The fascinating archaeological sites, landscapes, rich culture, gastronomy, and festivities of Cusco transport us to a world full of magic and tradition. This unique combination of history, nature, and adventure makes the Imperial City an attractive topic for U.S. media.

Cusco chosen as best city in Central and South America

The capital of the Inca Empire has been awarded the World's Best Awards by the prestigious travel magazine Travel+Leisure as the number one city in South and Central America.

The annual survey was conducted from October 2022 to February of this year, with the participation of thousands of verified subscribers.

The complete list of winners has been published online and will appear in the magazine's print edition in August as well.

Cusco received this recognition in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and again this year, confirming its importance in national and international tourism as one of the most sought-after destinations.

It is worth noting that Travel+Leisure is an U.S. magazine considered one of the most influential travel media outlets in the world.

It is published 12 times a year with a readership of 4.8 million readers and also has a web platform.

"It is a culinary destination with representation from many regions through fusion. There are plenty of hotels to choose from, and it is a very walkable city with charm on every corner," mentions one of the voters on the Travel+Leisure website.

Readers also praised the fascinating history, magnificent architecture, friendliness of the locals, cleanliness, and craft shopping in Cusco.

How to get to Machu Picchu?: Article on Matador Network

The renowned travel platform, Matador Network, has published an extensive photo essay about the train journey from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and the subsequent path to Machu Picchu.

The article was written by travel journalist Lauren Breedlove, with whom PromPeru shared relevant information about this world wonder.

"Your first glimpse of that view over the ancient citadel will be memorable, rain or shine. Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains add excitement, and you'll get to see highlights with your guide, such as Intihuatana (the Sun Dial), Temple of the Sun, and the Sacred Plaza, among others. Don't forget to take some photos of the alpacas," reads the article.

Other media outlets highlighting its charm include Global Traveler with the article "7 Reasons to Put Cusco on Your Travel List" and Trazee Travel with "7 Must-Visit Places in Cusco."
