Chinese President Xi Jinping commended Sunday the relationships between his country and Peru, as it is the first Latin American state to sign agreements with the Asian nation over free trade thus showing the way for the region.
During the official meeting held with the Peruvian president Ollanta Humala in the southern Chinese province of Hainan, where is taking place the Boao Forum – also known as the Davos of Asia -, Xi Jinping said both countries should continue to promote high-level exchanges.
The Chinese president encouraged to continue the exchanges between legislative bodies, political parties and local governments.
In this regard, Xi highlighted the relevance of building a dialogue mechanism between higher levels of governments in order to raise the mutual trust and cooperation.
“China and Peru need to fully tap the common free trade, optimize trade structures and expand trade scale”, Xi Jinping said during the opening Sunday of the Boao Economic Forum for Asia, adding that these actions will facilitate key projects that benefit both sides.
The Chinese leader added, “We should strengthen tangible cooperation in the fields of agriculture, mineral products, infrastructure and projects concerning people's livelihoods”.
During the talks, President Humala agreed to raise the Peruvian relationship with China to a comprehensive strategic partnership
Thus, Humala pointed out the high-level exchanges with the Asian country by strengthening policy dialogue and exchanges, expanding cooperation and seeking new areas of growth for trade and investment cooperation.
In addition, Peruvian Head of State stressing the promotion of Chinese businesses to invest in the Andean country and assured to the Chinese leader that he will actively promote personnel exchanges and cooperation in areas such as education and tourism between the two countries.
According to China’s official versions, both presidents expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations and their intention to enhance them.
As part of his state visit to China, President Humala will participate in a business meeting with Shanghai’s leader entrepreneurs, in Beijing, capital of this Asian country.
He will also attend the ceremony of establishment of a Peruvian Studies Center at the University of Hebei.
