BCR: Peruvian economy may grow over 4.5% in 4Q 2018

00:08 | Lima, Nov. 21.

Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Director Elmer Cuba has projected Peruvian economy might expand above 4.5% in the fourth quarter of 2018.

"The fourth quarter's growth is linked to two factors: fishery sector's strong recovery between November and December, as well as the mining (sector's) better performance," the official expressed.

However, Cuba indicated it would be a bit difficult to reach a 5% rate in the last quarter.

Although the growth is projected to exceed 4.5%, it will be very heterogeneous, he noted.

The BCR representative went on to add the slowdown recorded in the third quarter of this year was due to temporary factors unrelated to the Inca nation's macroeconomic foundations
