APEC Peru 2024: Bloc's economies exchanged experiences in sustainable finance

During the plenary session on Saturday —the last day of the Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting (FCBDM)— the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members' delegations exchanged experiences on sustainable finance so as to learn about the best experiences in this matter.

Thus, some international platforms were presented, which have given good results in financing sustainable activities, proving the importance of having a mechanism for APEC economies.

Besides, it coordinates and promotes the development of tools to share information and resources aimed at developing capabilities on the specific issue of sustainable finance.

These and other issues will continue to be addressed at the Senior Finance Officials' Meeting —to be held in the city of Urubamba (Cusco region) from May 23 to 27.

At the future event, attendees will seek to prepare the deliverables to be adopted by Finance Ministers in Lima at the Finance Ministerial Meeting (FMM) on October 1-4.


Meeting of deputy finance ministers concludes

Thus, the first preparatory meeting towards the APEC Leaders' Summit has concluded. At the initial event, Deputy Finance Ministers and Central Bank officials met. Said gathering had begun on February 21.

According to projections, on this occasion nearly 300 people participated, making up the 21 delegations of the APEC economies that arrived in Arequipa, southern Peru.

Once again, Arequipa region showed the conditions it has for holding international events that help promote Peru's image in the international arena.

"This region has experience in the development of international events, which it has capitalized on in recent years; it has great expertise to make the most of. Let's not forget that the Leaders' Summit will be held in Peru for the third time," the Foreign Affairs Ministry's APEC Peru 2024 Executive Coordinator Gino Arciniega affirmed.

It is worth mentioning that Arequipa region, along with four other cities (Lima, Urubamba, Trujillo, and Pucallpa) was selected for official events of the APEC presidency exercised by Peru this year.
