The Executive Branch has appointed Mayra Mercedes Elisabeth Figueroa Valderrama as the new Deputy Minister of Mines at the
Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), replacing Juan Isaias Samanez Bilbao.
Through Supreme Resolution No. 015-2026-EM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Tuesday, Figueroa Valderrama was appointed Deputy Minister of Mines, a position classified as one of trust.
Likewise,
through Supreme Resolution No. 014-2026-EM, the resignation of Juan Samanez Bilbao—who had headed the Deputy Ministry of Mines since February 5, 2026—was accepted.
The government thanked him for the services rendered to the nation.
Both supreme resolutions were signed by President Jose Maria Balcazar Zelada and Energy and Mines Minister Waldir Eloy Ayasta Mechan.
