Development and Social Inclusion Minister Lily Vasquez held meetings with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The talks aimed to strengthen cooperation with international organizations and coordinate joint actions focused on poverty reduction, food security, and child development.

The minister met with Mariana Escobar and Carolina Ramirez, FAO representatives in Peru, with whom she discussed the cooperation the agency has maintained with Midis since 2010 to strengthen the country's school feeding agenda.

"From Midis, we highly value the support and guidance that FAO has provided us on school feeding, because adequate nutrition is key to the comprehensive development of children and adolescents, not only in their physical health but also in their emotional development, education, and future job performance," Vasquez stated.

In addition, opportunities for technical cooperation related to rural development and the promotion of sustainable agri-food systems in the country were discussed.

Similarly, the minister met with UNICEF representatives, Javier Alvarez and Roberto Rivero.

During the meeting, the importance of establishing a clear roadmap outlining the sector's direction and priorities was emphasized, so that the next government has a defined course of action that ensures continuity of the policies and progress achieved.

Vasquez underscored the importance of maintaining and strengthening the ongoing coordinated work with international cooperation organizations such as UNICEF and FAO.

"Our main concern is children; for their sake it is essential to ensure that efforts and good practices continue," she indicated.
