Denisse Miralles was sworn in as the new Prime Minister during a ceremony led by the
President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, at the Government Palace in Lima on Tuesday evening.
Miralles previously served as Economy and Finance minister. She will now lead President Balcazar's ministerial team.
Balcazar took office on February 18 through a presidential succession after being elected by Congress as head of that branch of government.
The new Prime Minister replaces Ernesto Alvarez Miranda, whose resignation was accepted by supreme resolution.
Denisse Azucena Miralles Miralles is an economic engineer from Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria and holds a master's degree in Public Policy and taxation from Yokohama National University.
She has completed specialized training in infrastructure and public–private partnerships at the Harvard Kennedy School, Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), and Universidad del Pacifico.
As part of her experience in the public sector, Miralles served as director of Decentralized Investments at the State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion).
In that role, she led promotion and technical assistance efforts for the development of investment projects with a regional and local focus.
Miralles has worked on issues related to tax policy, fiscal decentralization, territorial coordination, social management, sustainability, and public–private partnerships.
The official has held various senior positions at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).
She also served as chief of the Economic Studies Department within the Planning Office of the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
