Rail service between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu has been fully restored, allowing domestic and international passengers to continue their journey safely and without interruption, the Ministry of Tourism and Foreing Trade (Mincetur), reported.
Travel to Machu Picchu is proceeding normally. From January 1st, rail service between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu has been fully restored and is operating at all frequencies and stations, under strict safety standards.

Following the accident that occurred on December 30, 2015, technical teams and specialists from Ferrocarril Transandino S.A. (FTSA) conducted a thorough evaluation of the area, confirming that the railway line did not suffer structural damage, which allowed train service to resume safely.
Currently, domestic and international passengers continue to board the service regularly, receiving excellent service and an orderly travel experience, reaffirming confidence in one of the country's main tourist routes.

This restoration guarantees access to Machu Picchu, recently recognized internationally as the world's leading tourist attraction by the World Travel Awards 2025, and allows thousands of visitors to continue arriving at Peru's main tourist icon safely and peacefully.
