2026 Elections: Peru to set up more than 2,500 polling stations worldwide

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Elections Board (JNE) held a coordination meeting to strengthen the organization of the 2026 General Elections abroad, with the aim of ensuring the exercise of voting rights for more than 1.2 million Peruvians residing outside the country.

The event was held at the Ministry's headquarters in Lima, where officials from both institutions reviewed general aspects of the electoral process.

These included the chain of custody of tally sheets and ballots, as well as the actions planned to promote outreach and electoral participation among Peruvians abroad.

In this context, progress in organizing the process for Peruvians outside the country was assessed, ahead of the elections to be held in April 2026.

He added that Peru's consulates are coordinating with the authorities of host countries to ensure appropriate conditions for the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

Informational campaigns

Representatives of both the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the National Elections Board (JNE) agreed on the need to intensify the electoral information campaign through the Tu Voto Cruza Fronteras (Your Vote Crosses Borders) initiative and the "Voto Informado" (Informed Vote) platform.
