Peru: President Balcazar holds audience with Canada's Ambassador

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela, held an audience with Canadian Ambassador Jean-Dominique Ieraci.

The Head of State underscored the fact that Canada is a partner and ally of Peru, with which it shares common principles and values, such as the promotion of democracy and respect for the rule of law.

"Both authorities highlighted the important economic relations between our countries, underscoring the interest in the upcoming signing of an agreement in the sphere of cooperation on critical minerals," the Presidential Office stated on X.

Likewise, it reported that the meeting addressed joint efforts to strengthen Peru–Canada cooperation in strategic sectors such as security and the fight against organized crime.

This event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
