The Peruvian Embassy in the United States hosted a reception at its official residence in honor of Bernie Navarro, recently appointed as the North American country's representative to Peru.
He also underscored Peru's strategic position in South America, along with the new opportunities for cooperation, political dialogue, security, defense, and investment, highlighting the importance of the Trade Promotion Agreement—in force for 17 years—and the presence of U.S. companies in the country.
In his remarks, Ambassador Navarro emphasized the importance the United States places on its relationship with Peru.
He noted that his tenure will be focused on deepening that relationship and consolidating a strong and long-term partnership.
Navarro indicated that, under the policy promoted by President Donald Trump and State Secretary Marco Rubio, the U.S. seeks to renew its commitment to Latin America and strengthen ties with countries across the Western Hemisphere.
The reception was attended by U.S. lawmakers Adriano Espaillat, Carlos Gimenez—co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Peru—and Dan Meuser; Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio, wife of State Secretary Rubio; senior officials from the United States Departments of State, War, and Commerce; as well as representatives of North American companies with investments in Peru and other investors.
