During the BIOFACH 2024 fair —the main platform for organic products in the world— sales expectations were generated by US$ 17.4 million, the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) has reported.

The fair was held from February 13 to 16 in the German city of Nuremberg, and a Peruvian delegation made up of 20 companies from functional products lines participated.

Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, France, Poland, the United States, among others, were the markets most interested in Peruvian products.

In addition, the most demanded foods by these markets were ginger, cacao, Andean grains, dried fruits (mangoes, pineapples, and aguaymanto), maca, sacha inchi, panela, and coffee.

PromPeru, through its Trade Office in Hamburg, maintains an important participation with companies in the functional products lines, where it has been collaborating with the promotion of biodiversity products.

Likewise, the participation of the Peruvian delegation sought to promote the national offer of organic products in the functional products line, with emphasis on fresh products, coffee, and cacao.

Similarly, it sought to position Peru as a leading supplier of organic, healthy, and high nutritional value foods

At the same time, Vivaness —the main international meeting point for the natural cosmetics sector— was also held, which allowed promoting the exportable offer of the line of natural ingredients for cosmetics in the German market.
