New York Mayor recognizes Consul General over efforts in favor of Peruvians

On the occasion of the farewell to Ambassador Marita Landaveri as Peru's Consul General to New York City, the Mayor's Office presented her with a recognition for her work in favor of the Peruvian community based in the U.S state.

The ceremony was held on April 17 at the City Hall —one of the most precious buildings and headquarters of the New York City Government since 1812.

Within this framework, NYC Mayor Eric Adams highlighted the various roles that Ambassador Landaveri played throughout her diplomatic career.

In addition to the Proclamation, Mayor Adams also declared April 17, 2024, as "Ambassador Marita Landaveri Day."

Present during the ceremony were the Director of Scheduling and Senior Advisor to the Mayor, Peruvian-born Gladys Miranda; the Commissioner for International Affairs, Edward Mermelstein; as well as Deputy Commissioners Aissata M.B. Camara and Kristen Kaufman.

The Peruvian diplomat was accompanied by her colleagues and officials from the Consulate General of Peru in the U.S. metropolis.

Lastly, Consul General Landaveri held a meeting with Mayor Adams.

During the gathering, the former policeman expressed his interest in visiting Peru, while the diplomatic official announced the visit to New York City by Peruvian Ambassador to the United States, Alfredo Ferrero, next June.
