FA Min praises ratification of Peru-U.S. agreement against drug-trafficking

Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Thursday welcomed the approval by Congress of the aerial interception agreement between Peru and the United States of America.

Via X (formerly Twitter), the Peruvian government official indicated that this instrument will contribute to confronting illegal drug trafficking.

Similarly, the Cabinet member said the agreement will allow for tackling the challenges of transnational organized crime.

"I approve of the recent decision by Congress," he expressed.

Congress' decision


This includes joint combat against illegal use, production, and trafficking of drugs, as well as aerial interception and assistance in that field provided by the United States.

This agreement will allow for the resumption of aerial interception of aircraft used for drug-trafficking purposes.
