The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) on Thursday reported that repair work on the Camisea gas pipeline has reached 74% progress after excavation of the affected area was completed.

"The Energy and Mines Ministry reports that excavation has been completed in the affected area of the natural gas pipeline, recording 74% progress, and work is advancing on the replacement pipe and installation of line valves," it stated on social media.

The work is being carried out by Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TGP), the concessionaire responsible for operating the Camisea project's natural gas transportation system.

On March 1, a deflagration was recorded in the gas pipeline located in Megantoni district, Cusco region.

However, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) guaranteed the fuel reserves necessary to meet national demand while the energy emergency lasts.
