Peru's President: Government to work for good of country

11:53 | Pichari (Cusco region), Oct. 3.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday affirmed that his Government will work for the good of the country and without wasting time in outdated situations.

During the opening of CITE-Agroindustrial VRAEM —in Cusco's Pichari district— the Head of State said that his administration's priority is to meet the main needs of the population.

"We will not get carried away by outdated situations. We cannot waste time thinking about other things in political terms. No more politics, no more differences. Let's start working, and we have come to do so, to ensure respect for what is in my head, for what I am wearing, because Peru comes first; the needs of this homeland come first. I encourage you to move forward," he stated.

The top official remarked that Pichari can become an example —in the country— of using technology to industrialize a series of products, other than cacao and coffee.

He went on to say that the Government envisages industrializing coca leaves and aims to work for Peru to have a range of industrialized products that can go directly to the population.

Mr. Castillo pointed out that his Government is advocating more research centers in support of farmers. Besides, he called on the transportation minister to work on Pichari's airport, so that the products can reach the national market directly.

The operations at this CITE will contribute to generating added value through technical assistance services, training, specialized technology information, and consultancy services on the formulation of research, development, and innovation projects, thus improving the supply, productivity, and quality of coffee and cacao, in the national and international markets.

The Peruvian leader arrived in the region of Cusco on Sunday morning in order to carry out official duties in Pichari and Sacsayhuaman.
