Casa Peru opened at SXSW art and tech festival in U.S.

Peruvian gastronomy, culture, and innovation will be on display at South by Southwest (SXSW) art and tech festival in Austin, Texas, United States starting Friday and over the course of the next five days.

Casa Peru opened its doors to the public at noon within the framework of said festival.

The Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) has arranged more than 15 daily activities on culture, art, gastronomy, and innovation initiatives.

Country Brand Deputy Director Mariella Soldi told Andina news agency that more than 30,000 visitors are expected over the coming days.

SXSW festival attendees will be able to taste Peruvian coffee, as well as other national drinks such as pisco. 

The event will also feature sample dishes prepared by national chefs Luis Romero Bellido, Diego Muñoz Velasquez, Palmiro Ocampo, and George Capristan.

Peruvian Brothers' food truck will sell Peruvian food to take away, and this will be the first time cryptocurrencies (bitcoins) are accepted at this type of event.

Short films "Mirror Like" and "Peru, Hidden Treasure" will be screened on the first day.
 

There will be more than 15 activities each day, including chocolate, silk screen printing, DIY cutting, food design, and art workshops.

An Andean Party with art shows will be held at 8:00 PM, when the fair opens.

The night will come to an end with the performance of DJ Shushupe, a folk music exponent.
