The Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism (PromPeru) started its participation at ITB Berlin 2024 on Tuesday with the successful inauguration of the Peru booth led by its Executive President, Angelica Matsuda.

On Wednesday, during the second day of ITB —one of the most relevant international tourism events held in the capital of Germany from March 5 to 7— the Peru Wow campaign was introduced to the German market.

As part of the Pisco de Honor event, aimed to strengthen ties with the German trade chain and press, PromPeru's Tourism Promotion Director, Paola Marin, along with PromPeru's Commercial Economic Counselor in Germany, Gycs Gordon, presented the official video of the Peru Wow campaign.

The video tells the story of two astronauts who witness Peru's impressive landscapes and historical monuments from space. Astonished, they decide to explore the country to enjoy all the unique experiences it offers.

Peru Wow aims to reinforce the country's image as an authentic and diverse destination in the adventure, nature, gastronomy, and culture segments.

The campaign in Germany includes outdoor advertising in the capital and a digital campaign on major social media platforms, with a focus on Berlin and Hamburg. These actions are expected to reach 3.2 million people in the German market.

The new tourism promotion campaign for Peru in 2024 appeals to the positive emotions generated by a unique destination like our country.

It also highlights numerous tourist attractions such as the Gocta waterfall, Choquequirao, Caral, the Paracas National Reserve, Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, among others.

Unforgettable experiences such as bird watching, community-based tourism, gastronomy, and adventure are also emphasized.

Promoting tourism in a country like Germany is crucial for boosting the Peruvian tourism industry, as it is the third-largest source market in Europe for tourists to Peru.

It is estimated that, by 2024, more than 1.3 million workers in Peru will depend directly and indirectly on tourism. The positive economic impact generated by inbound tourism not only extends to the direct actors in the sector but also benefits local communities, contributing to more equitable and sustainable development throughout Peru.
