President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Sunday afternoon administered the oath of office to his new ministerial cabinet, which will be led by Second Vice-President Mercedes Araoz.
At age 56, the also-congresswoman has already held other ministerial posts. As is known, she served as Minister of Foreign Trade-Tourism, Production, as well as Economy-Finance between 2006 and 2010 during ex-President Alan Garcia's regime.
Likewise, five new Ministers were sworn in today. They are: Claudia Cooper (Economy-Finance), Enrique Mendoza (Justice-Human Rights), Idel Vexler (Education), Fernando D'Alessio (Health) and Carlos Bruce (Housing, Construction and Sanitation).
The following high-ranking officials will hold their positions: Ricardo Luna (Foreign Affairs), Jorge Nieto (Defense), Carlos Basombrio (Interior), Jose Manuel Hernandez (Agriculture-Irrigation), Alfonso Grados (Labor-Employment Promotion), Eduardo Ferreyros (Foreign Trade-Tourism),
Cayetana Aljovin (Energy-Mines),
Bruno Giuffra (Transport-Communications),
Pedro Olaechea (Production),
Ana Maria Choquehuanca (Women-Vulnerable Populations), Elsa Galarza (Environment), Salvador del Solar (Culture) and
Fiorella Molinelli (Development-Social Inclusion).
The ceremony took place at the Government Palace's Honor Courtyard in Lima.
Within this framework, ex-Ministers Patricia Garcia (Health), Marilu Martens (Education), Maria Soledad Perez Tello (Justice-Human Rights) and Edmer Trujillo (Housing, Construction and Sanitation) also resigned their posts.
