The Peruvian Embassy to Paraguay has organized a visit of a Paraguayan business mission to Lima to offer an on-site display of our wide array of products to fellow South American entrepreneurs.

Slated for November 28-29, the visit includes a business roundtable and a meeting between the countries’ chambers of commerce. Both events are sponsored by the Paraguayan-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce.

Trade between the two Latin American nations has remained at almost negligible levels for various reasons, and Peru’s annual exports to Paraguay merely amount to US$10 million. As a result, the Peruvian Embassy in Asuncion (Paraguay) has been working on different actions to reverse the situation.

As a first measure, and following tough negotiations, the nations managed to eliminate the 21%-tariff on exports, thus facilitating Peruvian products’ competitiveness.

The countries also established the Paraguayan-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce as a means to support bilateral trade exchange.

It should be noted that Peru and Paraguay currently stand as the most dynamic, booming economies, as well as the ones posting highest growth rates in Latin America.

Likewise, both economies are complementary, which is to say they do not compete with each other: an auspicious situation to increase bilateral trade exchange.
