Colombia earned its eight Fuerzas Comando title at the 14th edition of the multinational exercise held in Lima, whereas Peru took the third spot among 20 participating nations of the Americas.
Honduras occupied the second place after nine days of tough competition at the Marine Corps base in Ancon district, northern Lima. Trailing far behind are Mexico and the United States, among others.
The Colombian team finished first with 2990 points, followed by Honduras (2945) and Peru (2880), which held the lead at different times throughout the tournament and even competed for the top spot.
On the ninth day, teams pitted their skills at the combined assault event as they rescued a hostage captive in a building. Accuracy and time were decisive factors at this competition.
It was Colombia’s eighth victory in the event: Chile (2005), Paraguay (2006), Honduras (2007), United States (2008), Colombia (2012 and 2014), Guatemala (2015) and Peru (2016).
Participating teams are set to take part in a parachute jump on Wednesday as part of their last activity in Peru.
The 14th edition of Fuerzas Comando will close on Thursday May 12 with the prize giving ceremony.
