Peru was selected among The People’s Choice Top 10 destinations for adventure tourism in 2016, Rough Guides revealed.
The Inca nation, the only Latin American country included in the list, was ranked ninth.
The ranking is led by Nepal, followed by the Philippines, Myanmar, India, Island, Greece, Vietnam, the United States, Peru and Thailand.
"According to you, Peru is the place to be in South America this year. Astounding Machu Picchu, the mysterious Nasca Lines and the exuberant capital, Lima, will always be popular," the guide stressed.
The travel book also highlights its history and suggests readers to pay a visit to the Museum of Túcume located in Northern Lambayeque region.
"It examines in impressive detail the lives of pre-Inca civilizations among some truly ancient ruins," it added.
The survey was conducted among the publication's readers.
