Peru’s government will ratify its commitment to the defense of human and environmental rights to promote the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed with the European Union during a hearing before the European Parliament, said on Monday Peru’s Vice President Marisol Espinoza.
“We will carry the message that Peru is a country committed to the defense of human and environmental rights, which is one of the additional terms included in said treaty,” Espinoza told Andina news agency.
Vice President Espinoza -who will take part on Wednesday in a hearing before the European Parliament- noted that the Executive Branch is showing its strong commitment to the respect for human rights and the defense of the environment.
The Peruvian vice president said that the Law on Prior Consultation and the military operation which allowed the capture of terrorist Florindo Eleuterio Flores (aka Artemio) are evidence of the policy of respect for human rights exercised by the Peruvian Government.
Moreover, Espinoza highlighted that in said hearing, she will also emphasize that the Peruvian Government is committed to wage a full-scale war against drug trafficking and terrorism.
