WEF 2018: Peru PM calls for inclusive e-commerce

19:06 | Davos (Switzerland), Jan. 24.

Peruvian Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz on Wednesday said the challenge of e-commerce is to become an inclusive tool for companies.

Araoz's remarks were made via Twitter within the framework of the World Economic Forum's 48th Annual Meeting in Davos.

"The challenge of e-commerce is to become inclusive so that it can contribute to the growth and strengthening of micro- and small-sized enterprises," the post reads.

According to the Cabinet chief, inclusive e-commerce may help entrepreneurs connect to global markets.

On the event's second day, Araoz met with Finance Ministers Jose Antonio Gonzalez Anaya (Mexico) and Mauricio Cardenas (Colombia). The meeting was also attended by Peru's Environment Minister Elsa Galarza.

As is known, Araoz currently participates in WEF's 48th Annual Meeting in Davos.

Her presence at this event is intended to draw private investment flows into the Inca country.

It must be noted this is the first time said event will be —exclusively— led by women as the organization will provide various formulas to reduce gender gaps in the socio-economic field.
