U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson extended congratulations to the people of Peru on the 196th anniversary of their independence.
"The United States and Peru enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship based on the shared values of democracy, security, and human rights," he underlined.
According to the senior official, both nations share an agenda to promote economic prosperity.
In addition, he believes that strengthening bilateral ties increases opportunities for both peoples.
"The United States wishes all Peruvians a happy Independence Day celebration," Tillerson said in his statement posted on the U.S. Department of State website.
