13:59 | Cusco (Cusco region), Jun. 19.

A Korean-American tourist died of an alleged heart attack as he climbed Winikunka (Quechua for 'Seven-color Mountain'), a popular destination in Andean Cusco region, National Police reported on Tuesday.

As stated by Pitumarca police, the visitor fainted on Monday after he had reached the tourist attraction.

Officers realized a paramedic was assisting him in an ambulance when they stepped onto a parking lot.

The vehicle took him to a nearby medical center in Pitumarca district, where he passed away the same day at 1:30 PM.

The victim was identified as Kenneth Kunki Row, a 70-year-old Korea-born man with U.S. citizenship.

During the hike —arranged by Cusco Zapa Tours travel agency— he was accompanied by his 36-year-old son and a tour guide.

It must be noted the victim had undergone a heart surgery two years ago.

According to his son, the vacationer was assisted by three doctors in the tour group after he had lost consciousness at over 5,000 m.a.s.l.
