Spanish Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos —who also serves as United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ambassador— visited children hit by natural disaster in Peru's northern city of Piura.
As is known, the Inca nation was at the mercy of "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon in the January-March period.
The event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides and floods, which left thousands of citizens homeless.
Ramos posted images on social media, showing his tour across the northern area.
"In Peru 400,000 children have suffered a tremendous blow due to the flooding in March this year," the 31-year-old said.
"I'm here with UNICEF to tell you about the work they're doing and to make sure that this emergency doesn't interrupt their childhood [...]," he added.
The soccer star participates in UNICEF campaigns. Likewise, he provides financial support for the reconstruction of homes and schools.
It must be noted Ramos recently won the Spanish Liga Santander and UEFA Champions League.
