The Government, through the Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS), is bringing and strengthening State services to the most remote populations in the Amazon region, Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said on Saturday.

After the launch of such mobile facilities at Manuel Clavero Base in Loreto region, Kuczynski explained more infrastructures of this type can be built at Navy Industrial Services (SIMA) shipyards.

“There are four PIAS, a previous administration’s program we are enhancing and expanding in order to bring State services to the most remote Amazon populations lacking health care, Reniec and banking services,” he affirmed.

He told the press that support actions are coordinated by Peru’s Navy and Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis), as well as other State portfolios and offices.

“This time, we are going to bring new things, in addition to the already existing services, like a hospital in order to assist people,” he said.

At another time, he noted studies are being conducted to construct a road linking Iquitos with the rest of the country, a work he thinks will be completed after he leaves office, but that should be underway by that time.

“In fact, there is a path towards Andoas, which goes all the way down to Trompeteros; but we need to make sure it is a good route,” he assured.

Moreover, he said energy in Loreto should be supplied through an environmentally sound project, so a solution to this would be the construction of a gas powered plant.

As for a possible rise in water level of Amazon River, he said the area is always in a state of emergency at this time after rains in the highlands.
