Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said a true educational revolution is in progress, reflected in different aspects like rural early education coverage, and improves working conditions of thousands of teachers.

Mr. Kuczynski stressed education's importance in achieving national development goals, during a television broadcast of "Conversando con el Presidente" (A Conversation with the President) —a presidential TV program that had Minister Marilu Martens as its first guest.

"Education reform is underway […] social revolution is underway through education," the top official said as he affirmed his government is working hard to ensure education access in rural areas.

He went on to say the country will develop a modern education system within the following ten years, which explains the progressive improvement in early education, as it has been proven that children show a better performance if it is encouraged since early years.

Speaking from Piura-based Virgen de las Mercedes school, the statesman admitted bringing education to rural areas is not as easy as it seems, but said basic services are being provided so that children can have drinking water and attend classes in better conditions.

The 78-year-old considers sport an important part of this work, which is why more resources will be allocated to soccer fields and gymnastic equipment for students, as sports also help academic development.
