Peruvians win grants to research productive activities in UK

14:33 | Lima, Jan. 26.

Ten Peruvian researchers will travel to the United Kingdom to deepen their knowledge on productive activities —key for their country's development.

They will do so as part of a British Council initiative called Researcher Links, which provides researchers with travel grants and funding for workshops.

These grants are aimed at promoting joint research between Peruvian and British scholars in topics underlying today's global challenges like health, water, and biodiversity.

The process, assessment, and selection of applicants were led by State-run Science and Technology Council (Concytec) and the British Government. The Newton-Paulet Fund is in charge of the financing.

The British Council runs Researcher Links in partnership with research and higher education institutions in selected partner countries around the world.

The travel grants provide financial support for early career researchers so that they can spend some time abroad.

On the other hand, the workshop grants provide financial support for workshops for early career researchers.

Newton-Paulet Fund

The Newton-Paulet Fund is the result of the partnership forged between Concytec and the British Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy Department.

The US$26 million fund will be invested in Peru's science, technology and innovation development over the next four years.
