The best of Peru's luxury travel offer arrived in the 2017 International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Asia, an annual invitation-only event gathering the continent’s most exclusive travel agencies, Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) informed.
Six national tour operators represented the Inca country
in the event, taking innovative one-of-a-kind travel experiences to Asian buyers seeking new destinations and top-quality customized trips.
Options presented ranged from a luxury train ride through the most breathtaking South-Andean landscapes to
Amazon River cruises to immerse oneself in the heart of Peru's rainforest.
Gastronomic feasts to indulge the palate, local-themed boutique hotels, authentic cultural experiences and unmatched nature rounded off the Peruvian travel offer to get a taste of the high life.
Peru in Chinese social media
PromPeru activities at ILTM Asia also included the presentation of a tourism promotion platform in WeChat, China's leading instant messaging app.
This way, the Andean nation will further promote
Peruvian landmarks and
attractions among WeChat's 800 million+ active users, who use the app for around 90 minutes every day.
A WeChat-based e-learning platform was also launched —in Chinese— to promote Peruvian destinations among the Asian Giant's tourism companies.
Peru's participation in the major luxury travel event adds to the country's prior tourism promotion
efforts in China, like a tourist and business
visa waiver to Chinese nationals introduced last year.
Chinese tourist profile
According to PromPeru's Foreign Visitor Profile, Chinese tourist inflow stood at 25,648 in 2016, a 33% rise over 2015.
Chinese tourists' average spending in Peru has also increased from US$1,391 (2015) to US$2,044 (2016), as has their average stay, up from 10 (2015) to 13 (2016) nights.
