Peruvian economy may have increased 2.6% in May 2017, a survey conducted by Andina news agency revealed.
According to the poll, analysts and guilds' estimates for the fifth month range from 2% to 3.4%. The average economic growth projection stands at 2.61%.
It must be noted May's growth rate would be lower than the one registered in the same month last year (4.91%).
However, the said result would be higher than those reported in April (0.17%), March (0.71%) and February (0.72%) this year.
Within this framework, BBVA Research Principal Economist Francisco Grippa underlined expansion was mainly driven by the fishery sector.
"Greater
anchovy catches encouraged a 280% increase in the fishery sector in May [...]," Grippa said.
Official results will be revealed on May 14.
