Instead of showing concerns about facing France at the 2018 World Cup, Peruvian midfielder Christian Cueva is glad to have the opportunity to face a top-ranked team.

Likewise, the 26-year-old athlete is confident about Paolo Guerrero's participation in the sporting event, which will kick off next June.

The Sao Paulo star is aware that a World Cup tournament is different from any other competition. In this sense, the national squad will do their utmost to be prepared in order to make the cut at the most important tournament.

"Regardless of which team we will face, I think playing a World Cup tournament is hard already. It will be the first time for us, and we will get ready to compete. We will go step by step," Cueva told reporters upon his arrival in the Inca country.

The athlete noted there is not any weak rival at the World Cup, as the 32 participating teams will be focused on competing in the tournament.

"It is important for us to be at the World Cup. We must seize such opportunity. France is a top-ranked squad with great players. How can we not be happy to face a great team such as France?" he expressed.

As is known, Peru was placed in Group C along with France, Denmark, and Australia at FIFA's final draw last week.
