The Peruvian government will have invested S/49.50 billion (around US$15.18 billion) in infrastructure linked to water and sewerage services by 2021.

The initiative belongs to Peru's 2017-2021 National Sanitation Plan.

By the country's Independence Bicentennial, some 4- and 7.7-million people are expected to have joined drinking water and sewerage services, respectively.

The said plan articulates sector's efforts aimed at achieving 100% sanitation coverage.

In addition, the initiative is aligned with the National Agreement's policies, United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, as well as with recommendations by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
