Peru to host int'l potato congress this month in Cusco

South Andean Cusco City gets ready to host the 10th edition of the World Potato Congress scheduled for May 27-31, 2018.

It will be the first time a Latin American country hosts this important event.

Thus, Peru will have the opportunity to reaffirm its agricultural potential, as well as highlight the wide diversity of its native potatoes and their benefits.


The 10th World Potato Congress will bring together several scientists and professionals linked to the study, conservation, and commercialization of this Andean tuber.

"Potato plays a fundamental role in the economy and nutrition of Peruvians (…)," International Potato Center (CIP) Deputy Director General for Research and Development Oscar Ortiz expressed. 


"At the event, we will share with attendees the main findings of our research and the experience gained over the 47 years we have been working with this emblematic natural product," he added.

This event is an exceptional opportunity to learn more about this millenary tuber, the related investigations, and future projects aimed at boosting and enhancing the potato market in Peru.
